1 Draw an ellipse. Choose the Direct Selection tool.
2 Choose the bottom point. Hold the Shift key down and drag.
3 Choose the egg shape and make a radial gradient. Change the right colour to gray and apply the gradient.
4 Copy, reduce, change to black and move it down.
5 Use the same method and change to white. Group.
6 Apply a Twist warp to the eye. Expand to make it permanent.
7 With the Reflect tool duplicate using Vertical.
8 Open a new layer and drop it below the current one. Hold the Alt key down and draw an ellipse.
9 Create a gradient. Use the Gradient tool and drag up and outside of the oval. Test to get the right touch.
10 Open a new layer just below the last one. Draw an ellipse and then open Warp Options. Choose Shell Lower and set to Horizontal and a Bend of 10%. Apply Transform to make permanent. Make a new gradient and apply.
11 Create a New layer below all others. Draw one leg with the Pen tool. Then duplicate it and move it. Duplicate the layer and use the Reflect tool and choose the Copy button.
12 On a layer behind the head, draw 20 pt. antennae. Then, choose Outline Stroke. Sketch a different line.
13 Apply a Zig Zag to the antennae.
14 Make a layer under the head layer. Draw an ellipse in the centre. Fill with black and stroke with white at 7 pts. Add a Pucker & Bloat of 54%. Then apply Zig Zag with a size of 18 pt., Absolute, 2 Ridges, and Smooth.
15 The bug is ready to fly!
